Spiritual Communion
The best way to receive Jesus is at Holy Communion during Mass, however, when we cannot attend Mass for whatever reason, such as COVID-19, we can receive Spiritual Communion.
What is Spiritual Communion?
St. Thomas Aquinas described Spirtual Communion as: "An ardent desire to recieve Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament and in lovingly embracinig Him as if we had actually received Him."
How do we Receive Spiritual Communion?
You can receive Spiritual Communion before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament like on this page or in person, or anywhere at any time with the prayers below:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
